Event Description:

This year's Annual Celebration of Women in Horticulture is all about telling untold stories. Our two guest speakers have been unearthing hidden stories and will be bringing them to light on our stage.

Savannah Shephard Founder of the Delaware Social Justice Remembrance Coalition speaks of her experience visiting the Equal Justice Initiative and the journey toward implementing its community remembrance project and fighting for social justice in Delaware.

Abra Lee, national speaker, writer, and owner of Conquer the Soil, a platform that combines Black garden history and pop culture to raise awareness of horticulture, will share stories from the ordinary to the extraordinary, and the women who have made their mark on American horticultural history exploring how these women used plants as their love language to express pride in community and self.

Each year, the Ambler Arboretum acknowledges its roots as the Pennsylvania School of Horticulture for Women by recognizing the contributions of women to the field of horticulture and inviting a speaker who represents the school's founding principles of putting knowledge into practice by combining the trained mind with the trained hand.

This program is part of the Ambler Arboretum Speaker Series and is offered in a pay-what-you-can format to work toward creating equitable access to all of our programs.
