Michael ReedMichael H. Reed, CLA ’69, received his bachelor’s degree in political science from Temple before receiving his law degree from Yale Law School in 1972. He was admitted to the Pennsylvania bar and joined the firm of Pepper Hamilton & Scheetz as an associate later that year. He was a partner from 1980 until 2014 when he became Of Counsel and is now a member of the Corporate Restructuring and Bankruptcy Practice Group of Pepper Hamilton LLP. He is a fellow of the American College of Bankruptcy and a member of the American Law Institute.

Reed is past president of the Pennsylvania Bar Association and was the first person of color to lead the PBA. He is also the State Delegate for Pennsylvania in the ABA House of Delegates, and previously served on the ABA’s Board of Governors. Reed has been an adjunct professor at Temple Law School (1989; bankruptcy) and Rutgers-Camden Law School (1983, 1985; bankruptcy and secured transactions).

Reed is highly ranked in Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business, is listed in The Best Lawyers in America and was selected for inclusion on the 2014 Pennsylvania Super Lawyers list. He currently serves on the Philadelphia Board of Ethics and he is vice chairman of the board of the Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University.
