What is AccessNet?

As a Temple alumnus or alumna, you’re eligible for a free AccessNet account through the Temple University Alumni Association. AccessNet enables you to access Temple’s many online resources, including TUmail and TUportal. Your AccessNet username will be automatically assigned and consists of a combination of letters and numbers (e.g., tua12345). Your AccessNet account will also serve as your official Temple email account (e.g., tua12345@temple.edu).

How do I obtain an alumni AccessNet account?

If you’re a new or recent Temple alumnus or alumna, you’ll automatically retain your AccessNet account for one year after graduation. Your account will remain active provided you regularly change your password when prompted (see “When will I be prompted to update my AccessNet password?” below).

If you graduated over a year ago, or haven’t kept your AccessNet account active by regularly changing your password, you’ll need to submit a new request (see “What if my AccessNet account has expired, or I’d like to create a new account?” below).

What if my AccessNet account has expired, or I'd like to create a new account?

If your AccessNet account has expired, or you’d like to create a new account, please visit the Temple University alumni website and select the “TUmail and TUportal” option from the Resources tab. From there, follow the self-service instructions to submit your request.

How long does it take for my AccessNet request to get approved?

Provided you successfully complete the self-service identity verification process, your AccessNet account will be created immediately.

If we’re unable to verify your identity from the self-service process, a TUhelp ticket will automatically be created. A Support Specialist will contact you within one business day and will work with you personally to manually verify your identity and authorize your AccessNet account.

When will I be prompted to update my password?

For security purposes, Temple requires you to change your AccessNet password every six months. Ten days prior to your password expiration date, you’ll receive an email reminder. You’ll receive another reminder one day prior to your password expiration date. To change your password, go to the Manage Account tab on Temple’s Information Technology Services (ITS) homepage and click “Reset password/security questions.”

Note: Temple security may, at their sole discretion, require additional password resets.

How is AccessNet different from my alumni website account?

Your alumni website account and alumni AccessNet account are two separate resources that serve different functions (please see below for specific benefits). As a Temple alumnus or alumna, you now have the ability to log in to the alumni website with your AccessNet credentials. This means you no longer need to maintain two separate logins. As long as you keep your AccessNet account active (by changing your password when prompted), you’ll be able to log in to the alumni website.

What are the benefits of having an AccessNet account?

Alumni that activate their AccessNet account have access to Temple’s many online resources, including TUmail and TUPortal. TUportal features an exclusive Alumni Relations tab that includes a curation of alumni events, news, announcements and resources. Through TUportal, alumni will also have access to the latest monthly @Temple Newsletter, the alumni directory and exclusive benefits.

What are the benefits of having an alumni website account?

With an alumni website account, you’ll be able to browse the alumni directory, read messages on the message board and post a reply, submit and read class notes, view all events you’ve registered for, and speed up the event registration process.

Do I need to have a website account in order to register for a Temple event online?

You do not need to have an alumni website account in order to register for a Temple event.
