Harris Klear, DPM ’71

Dr. Harris Klear was born and raised in Philadelphia. Klear graduated from Central High School in 1964 with honors. He attended Temple University for undergraduate Liberal Arts studies and transferred to Temple’s School of Pharmacy. He then transferred to Pennsylvania College of Podiatric Medicine, graduating in 1971. He completed his one-year residency at Parkview Hospital in Philadelphia. In 1973, after practicing in Rahway, NJ for one year, he opened a practice in Riverside, NJ, thereafter, expanding offices to Medford, Mt. Laurel, Delran and Marlton, NJ. Dr. Klear has been board certified with the American Board of Podiatric Surgery in Foot and Ankle Surgery since 1981.

He joined Temple’s School of Podiatric Medicine Alumni Association 20 years ago and has served as its president for two years. During his tenure, he raised nearly $250,000 for podiatry student scholarships through yearly continuing education programs. Dr. Klear has also been the golf chairman for the last three golf outings.

In addition to his board involvement, he regularly participates in Central High School's Career Day, presenting a career in podiatry; participates in the student externship program allowing students to shadow his work; regularly attends the Dean’s Picnic, greeting incoming students; lectures 4th-year students on practice management; and has lectured for Podiatry Content Connection and Berman Lasers. He is also on the Podiatry Board of Visitors and a member of the Conwell Society.
