SMC meets NYC: New York Alumni Media Panel

The Metropolitan New York Chapter of the TUAA, in conjunction with Temple's Klein College of Media and Communication, invites you to join 50 selected KLN students and faculty for a media panel moderated by Temple alumni in the heart of the lower Manhattan financial district.

This hands-on session will feature successful Temple alumni who work in the New York media and communications market every day. They will cover careers in social media, recorded music, advertising, broadcasting and more.

Panelists include the following executives:

Yomi Desalu (ENG ’99) is a 16-year veteran of MTV’s music and talent department where he is Vice President, Music and Talent Programming Strategy. Within that role, he handles strategic planning across multiple channels, along with overseeing the programming and facilitation of all the MTV music channels.

Michael Kauffman (KLN '86) is a marketing and communications executive at the intersection of music and technology. Most recently at YouTube, he spearheaded the marketing team's music engagement strategy with a focus on industry outreach, events and education. Prior to that, he held senior roles at Google, RightsFlow (a licensing and rights management start-up acquired by Google), the Verve Music Group (Universal Music Group's historic jazz label), and with the Bertlesmann Music Group. He also serves as co-chair of the TUAA Metropolitan New York alumni chapter and on the KLN Board of Visitors.

Rich Levy (KLN '79) is the Chief Creative Officer for FCB Health, which is the most awarded healthcare advertising agency – having been named ‘Most Creative Agency’ by its peers in five of the last six years. Prior to that he was a senior advertising executive with Ogilvy, Verizon Wireless, Saatchi & Saatchi and McCann Erickson. In addition to these companies, Rich is on the advisory board of the Medical Advertising Hall of Fame, The Lions Health and Effie Awards. Rich’s tagline for Verizon, “Can You Hear Me Now?” has been honored in the Advertising Walk of Fame on Madison Avenue and his campaign for Canon is a part of the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art.

Meredith McGinn (KLN ’94) is a Senior Vice President in the NBC Television Stations division. She manages all creative and business aspects of COZI TV, the new multicast network that airs iconic television shows. She also oversees the award-winning production company, LX.TV, which produces weekly lifestyle programs for national and international syndication. Previously, Meredith spent 20 years in news management at NBC 4 New York, MSNBC and the FOX television stations in New York and Philadelphia.

Doug Maine (KLN '71) has recently been a Broadway producer for the musical Dames at Sea, and he is currently the lead investor for the New Deco Orchestra, which showcases music, dance and theatrical arts. He is the lead Board Advisor for Olympusat, who provide 25 entertainment networks for the cable tv industry. He has served on the Board of Directors of Washington D.C.'s Wolftrap Center for the Performing Arts as well as Atlanta's Woodruff Arts Center which owns the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and the Southeast's premier art museum. He is currently a Wall Street executive and prior to that he served as Chief Financial Officer of IBM and MCI, now part of Verizon. MCI was the second largest shareholder (after Rupert Murdoch) of News Corporation, which owns Fox. Maine was also involved with the movie Titanic, which at the time was the most successful (as well as expensive) film in history.
