TUCaresDay is an initiative geared towards strengthening the relationship not only between Temple Students and Alumni, but also the surrounding community, through the act of service. Throughout the duration of the event, alumni and students will be split into groups with 2 group leaders (1 student leader & 1 alumnus leader). These groups will then be randomly placed at one of our 3 sites to partake in various forms of community service. Throughout the day, the local community members are also encouraged to join in the service with the students and alumni. The event will end at the 1700 block of 17th Street with an unveiling of the first ever Temple Sponsored Mural that will represent the growing relationship between Temple University and the surrounding Philadelphia Community. During the unveiling, faithful organizations who have consistently participated in Temple related Community Service will also be honored. Following this brief ceremony there will be a block party and cookout where members of the surrounding community and participants of the event will share food and laughter, symbolizing the continued growth between Temple University and North Philadelphia.
