Oh No!

It seems the page you were trying to reach is no longer active.

It could be our fault…we did just redesign our website! Either way, let us help you find your way back. If you’re not sure what you’re looking for, start at one of our two new websites, alumni.temple.edu or giving.temple.edu.

Here are some other suggestions:

  • If you typed in this address, check your spelling.

About TemPALS

As TemPALS, alumni are matched with an international Temple student for one semester and provide support in the student’s transition. TemPALS are asked to meet or make contact with their students on a regular basis (once a week is suggested); offer assistance in communication, social relationships and general cultural adjustment; and provide support as needed.

By offering an opportunity for the exchange of information about different countries, cultures and languages, the TemPALS program provides an enriching experience for both Temple’s international students and its alumni. The TemPALS program is also a great way for alumni to stay connected to Temple and show their commitment to the university and the city of Philadelphia.

The TemPALS program at Temple University is organized by the Temple University Alumni Association, the Office of International Services and Coming of Age.

Coming of Age is a Philadelphia-based national 50+ civic engagement initiative located at Temple University's Center for Intergenerational Learning. In addition to Temple, Coming of Age's partners include WHYY, AARP Pennsylvania and United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania.

Coming of Age helps individuals explore their future and make a difference in their communities, and offers nonprofits strategies to capture the energy and expertise of adults 50 and older. To learn more and sign up for Inspiring Opportunities, a free e-mail news blast, click here.

The TemPALS Experience
After a teaching career in Japan that lasted 26 years, Mieko Kaneko was looking for a way to enrich her life and learn about a new culture. Halfway around the world, Len Mellman was the chair of the Temple University Alumni Association’s Community Service Committee and was looking for a way to give back. The TemPALS program, a new initiative at Temple designed to help new international students adjust to Philadelphia and to the university, brought them together. Read the story of Kaneko and Mellman to learn more about the TemPALS experience.
