ALUMNI WEEK 2021 RECAP

Despite gathering, reuniting and celebrating remotely this year, one thing remained unchanged about our annual Alumni Week celebration: the astounding, inspiring achievements of our alumni.

While the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic restricted traditional in-person events for the May 10–16 celebration, the week provided flexible opportunities to participate through virtual Alumni Week Anytime Activities and added two of our signature recognition programs, Gallery of Success and 30 Under 30. Both programs, which recognize outstanding professional achievement among alumni from our 17 schools and colleges, honor Temple Made leaders, blazing new paths as advocates, ambassadors, influencers and visionaries in critical fields. In a year defined by so many challenges, this year’s honorees exemplify what’s possible when passion and purpose meet.

Together, Gallery of Success and 30 Under 30 showcased 47 Temple Owls, many of whom shared their expertise and stories by participating in some of the week’s 15 events and prerecorded “anytime” content. Panel discussions paid special attention to adapting and changing over the past year and covered a range of topics. Two highlights: Pedagogy Post-Pandemic: What Have We Learned? featuring 30 Under 30 recipient Jazmine Jackson and Gallery of Success recipients Aminta Hawkins Breaux and Dorsey Spence; and Community Impact in a Post-Pandemic Society, moderated by 30 Under 30 recipient Erinn Corbett-Wright.

Miss out on some Alumni Week events? Don’t worry; you can find many of them in our Digital Content Library.

Save the dates for Homecoming and Family Weekend 2021, confirmed for Monday, September 27–Sunday, October 3. The Homecoming football game will be Saturday, October 2, against Memphis. Stay tuned over the next few months for more information.
